The 2014 Transit Connect will be offered with two four-cylinder engine options: a 2.5-liter base engine and an optional 1.6-liter EcoBoost which Ford says will offer drivers more than 30 mpg during highway driving.

Aside from being fuel efficient, the van also offers an estiamted 1,600-lb payload capacity which is more than a RAM 1500 pickup truck. Even with that capacity, Ford says the van drives and parks like a car.

As part of the brand’s “One Ford” global product strategy, this will be same van that will reach 66 global markets. Additionally, Ford says global commercial vehicle sales are expected to grow by almost 30 percent to 21 million units annually by 2017, making this a hugely important product for the brand’s global success.
